Since I am not going to be home in Maine with my family for Thanksgiving, my boyfriend and i decided that we would volunteer at a soup kitchen to pass out Thanksgiving dinner to people who are homeless, or people who cannot afford Thanksgiving dinner.
We decided to do this instead of cooking dinner just for us, because we figured that it wouldnt be worth buying all that food for just the two of us. I cannot wait, i am very excited to give my time to people who are not fortunate enough to have a Thanksgiving dinner.
We figured if we are not going to be able to be with our families on Thanksgiving, then we might as well help out other people and make sure that their families are happy on this day of Thanks.
So Happy Early Thanksgiving to all of you, I hope that it is lovely!

A while back I wrote a post called "media wants you to die" and my boyfriend posted it on his blog because at the time i didnt have a blog page yet. So if you would like to read that you can go to his blog and look it up, it is by me -Wendy... His blog page is www.americanstruggle.vox.com (hes also on my neighborhood page as well if that makes it a little bit easier).
Anyways, I have come to a conclusion that magazines arent going to disappear from the face of the earth. Now unfortunately i cant get rid of them, But i can complain about them. So this is what i am blogging for.
Magazines are everywhere. The media makes it very accessible to purchase them. You name it : Seventeen, Cosmo girl, Cosmopolitan, Womans Health, Mens Health...Ect. Ect.
So many people are reading these magazines and subjecting themselves to so many problems. People open up these magazines and get depressed because they see an image of a "hot" girl or "hot" guy and say "wow i should look like that, and i dont". Everyone cares about their outside image so much that the truly beautiful inside of people are fading away in the background. Why are humans putting themselves through this? Yes, there are beautiful people out there but 9 times out of 10 they are fake, bitchy, and cant carry on a very intelligent conversation. Who cares about the outside image anyway? I mean later on you are going to have to figure out what the inside of that person looks like and who knows what that could bring. When people read these magazines they are looking at images of people that have been torn up and down with photoshop, really people get a clue thats not what they look like when they get up in the morning!! Ever looked up the "dove commercial" on youtube??? I suggest you look at it when your done reading this!
Why do we need to read magazines to see what we want to buy for clothes? People need to be more themselves and start wearing what they want, not what Rhianna had on at the music awards. We need to be more unique as a whole. I get sick of walking down the street and everyone i see: the same. The same hair styles, clothes, same type of shoes. Whatever is in "style" or "popular". I say: STOP right now, go buy that so called weird shirt and mismatched pants and wear the hell out of it. Grow a mowhalk or a freakin mulit if you want to just dont be like everyone else!!!!!!! The world gets boring and robot-ish if we all look the same. Some people may snub the guy wearing all black or the girl who is wearing super bright colors that cosmo said didnt look good together. I say: Good for you, im glad you had the guts to say no to media and celebrities and wear your own styles not something put together for you by a magazine. What a joke magazines are.
The big thing in magazines now are how to make your body look "hot". Why not instead of just starring at the models that they use for those fitness features, get off your ass and go for a walk. You will only depress yourself starring at the people who have been photoshopped for hours to make them look that way. Put down the mag and go for a bike ride or something.
Also, magazines like to post things on "the right makeup for your complexion" (now this is directed towards teens and womans magazines). They tell you what color is right for you. I say wear the damn blue eye shadow if you want. Wear red lipstick if your pale and work it! Be happy your being you- being the original you.
Ever read a mens magazine? Well sorry guys I dont know about all woman out there but other than your good looks and the fact that you can make gelato you may also need to have a brain in that head of yours so we can actually carry on a conversation with you- and yes, it may not be about the football game last night. Imagine that.
And who ever said we have to smell like Calvin Kline or Harajuku Lovers? Maybe you just want to lather on some deodorant and call it good. Maybe you want to smell bad? I dont know whatever makes you happy. Just dont buy those fragrances just because the magazine told you to. I'm sure that it is going to take a little extra work that just smelling good to land you a date worth having.
I saw a magazine that had "how to do the perfect kiss" and they gave you tips and tricks. Now I know that my first kiss wasnt so glamorous. but it happened and i certainly didnt need a magazine to tell me how to do it. WTF just find your man and practice on him dont read the freakin magazine to learn how. Go with the flow. Certainly dont plan it out thats just weird. Oh and to make matters worse that ad was on "Seventeen Magazine" you know how many little girls read that, im sure all their mothers would be happy to catch them making out with a boy and have their daughter tell them "oh well seventeen taught me how". A kiss is just something of nature, you cant effing plan that sucker out...go with the flow like i said, and who gives an F if you suck at it the first time. More boys to come, plently of practice.
I cant get it across more that people need to be more themselves. Who cares what Angelina Joli named her kid, or whether Britney is going to have another meltdown. Do we really need to know that to be happy? If we do than i might just have to go shave my head....wait, no just kidding. Celebrities influence people so much. I cant even tell you how much because personally i dont know the stats but all you have to do it just look around. Everyones goal in life is to be "perfect". I ask WTF is perfection. I call it bordom i dont want to look around and see all the same people in all the same clothes, with all the same makeup and the perfect manicures and hairstyles and you name it. It sounds depressing. I like difference. That is what we need more of. Some magazines should seriously sit back and think about what they are actually putting out there on the store shelves and they should be ashamed of themselves. They are subjecting, and people are subjecting themselves to a whole lot of hurt. We dont need to be hurt.
So do me a favor and put your magazines away, im not telling you to do it for the rest of your life. Just for a little while and see how much better you feel. Maybe you will, Maybe you wont but i sure hope you do! Because " BEAUTY MAGAZINES WILL ONLY MAKE YOU FEEL UGLY!!!"
